As the temperature rises, so does your desire to turn on the air conditioner. Commuting takes up a lot of gas as it is for your car. Turning on the A/C burns your car fuel even faster. So save gas, roll down the windows! Follow our summer car ride tips to find out what to do in order for you to save gasoline for your car while keeping it cool.
Here are some tips and tricks to help you save money on gas this spring/summer while keeping your car cool:
- Air out your car. If the weather is breezy, you should roll down all the windows and let your car cool down before driving.
- Park in the shade/use a sun visor. Your car will be less humid when you come back!
- The less MPH, the less need for the A/C. It’s suggested that when traveling more than 40 mph, you should have the a/c on. However, when cruising below 40 mph, go with the windows down and enjoy the fresh, cool air. If it’s a little too warm for you, turn on the vent! It won’t affect gas burnout.
- Use a steering wheel/dash cover. Everything outside is hot to the touch. It will help to at least have the interior of your car not have hot vinyl surfaces.
